UAV pilots
If you fly a drone, there are a few things you need to bear in mind in Germany:
If the drone weighs more than 250g, it must be fitted with a fireproof plate bearing the owner’s name and address
Third-party liability insurance is important, not expensive and definitely worth having
If your drone weighs more than 2kg and/or is used regularly, it should be fitted with an Aurora FLARM device, which makes the drone visible to general air traffic.
This applies in particular to drones used by the fire service, as rescue helicopters are often involved in many operations. These helicopters always have FLARM devices on board, enabling them to detect drones from a considerable distance. The system prevents collisions
