The installation of the FLARM antenna is a compromise, especially in aircraft with carbon fibre fuselages, which usually means that the uniform, circular reception characteristics are lost. The best location for the antenna is often in the fin, which is usually made of fibreglass and provides good all-round visibility for the antenna.
In newer Schempp-Hirth aircraft, for example, an empty conduit is laid in the vertical stabiliser to facilitate installation, starting at the tail battery compartment and ending next to the landing gear compartment. If this empty conduit is not already occupied by another cable, the antenna can be installed quickly and with little effort.
The set consists of:
- Low-loss special antenna cable with low attenuation (0.25 dB/m), pre-terminated on both sides, diameter approx. 6 mm,
- dipole axial antenna
PowerFLARM Fusion devices:
This item cannot be used with the PowerFLARM Fusion without an adapter.
